  • Feeling stuck? Here’s how to step out of your comfort zone

    The Comfort Zone Conundrum

Are you having a hard time learning how to step out of your comfort zone, doing the same things daily, hoping for different outcomes? This comfort zone is your biggest enemy in your quest for success. Ask yourself: Is playing it safe keeping me from achieving my dreams?

    The Fear of Failure

Embracing this question might make you uneasy, but someone has to ask. Many stay in their safe zones due to the fear of failure, judgment, personal loss, or just the unknown. We tell ourselves it’s okay to stay comfortable and avoid risks. But, deep down, we know that playing it safe is leading us nowhere.

    The Mind’s Safety Mechanism

The human mind is wired to keep us safe from perceived dangers, putting up barriers to prevent us from stepping into unknown territories. While in business, risks don’t generally threaten physical harm, the mind doesn’t distinguish, considering all risks equally perilous.

For several years, I played it safe while building my coaching business, adhering to what I felt comfortable with—just posting on Instagram and hoping for clients to reach out.

A Personal Experience with Playing It Safe

Let me paint a picture: I was building my business, hopping from network marketing to affiliate marketing, and finally venturing into coaching. I confined myself to Instagram, putting up posts and waiting for someone to say, “Hey, I want to work with you.”

Sure, social media visibility feels scary initially, but I knew deep down that I could do much more. I could network, pitch myself, and connect more intimately with people. But fear of judgment kept me from taking those steps.

    The Turning Point: Taking Risks

A year ago, I chose to stop playing it safe and go all-in on my business. And let me clarify: going all-in doesn’t mean giving up a stable job you love. I continued to work full-time while pursuing my business on the side. All-in means taking actions that feel scary but can yield incredible results, like starting a podcast, despite the investment it demands in terms of time, equipment, and learning curve.

    The Cost of Avoiding Risks

Avoiding risks may seem appealing and safe but consider the lost opportunities and growth in your business. When you don’t step out of your comfort zone, the cost lies not only in stagnation but also in missing out on significant confidence boosts that come from taking bold actions.

Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone

    Bold Moves: Reflect and Act

Think about the boldest move you’ve ever dreamt of making in your business. What stopped you? Was it true reasoning, or just fear? What would your life be like if you trusted your instincts and pursued those risky opportunities?

Practical Example: Taking Risks and Reaping Rewards

I recently returned to the workforce as a full-time fundraising consultant, a role completely outside my previously charted path. Yet, this bold move opened new avenues for growth, connection, and energy, enriching both my personal and professional life.

    Learning Through Failure

No discussion about risk-taking would be complete without acknowledging that failure is a possibility. When you’re learning how to step out of your comfort zone remember that any failures you encounter aren’t the end; it’s a learning opportunity, a stepping stone. Reflect on past failures and the lessons you gained from them. Understand how they shaped your current path, and you’ll realize that no effort is truly wasted.

    Take Action

To wrap things up, identify one area in your business where you can start taking bigger risks. Choose a risk—big or small—that you’re going to commit to in the coming weeks. Still feeling stuck? Here’s 9 actionable strategies to help you take action.

  • How to Create a Positive Inner Voice

If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly battling that little voice inside your head — the one that loves to remind you of all the reasons why you can’t do what you want to do, achieve what you want to achieve, just be the extraordinary person that you know you’re meant to be, this episode is for you. This is the “I’m not good enough,” “not worthy,” or “not special enough” spiel. Today is all about how to create a positive inner voice from your harshest critic. If you’re ready to ditch those limiting beliefs and step into your CEO energy, you are exactly in the right place.

    Understanding the Inner Critic

We all have that inner critic, right? That voice that seems to have a knack for popping up right when we’re about to make a big leap. Let’s dive deep into transforming that voice today. First of all, let’s get one thing straight: it is completely normal to have these thoughts. Every entrepreneur, no matter how successful, has faced them at one point or another. What you’re feeling is valid and it’s a universal part of the human experience. Your awareness of these thoughts is actually a huge step forward. So kudos to you. It’s like you’re saying, “Hey, I see you and I understand why you’re here, but maybe there’s a better way to protect me and help me grow.”

Tackling the Inner Critic with NLP

We’re going to do something different here and tackle that inner critic and create a positive inner voice with a very powerful NLP tool. Trust me here and go with it. Make sure to do this in a place where you feel safe, where you feel like you can close your eyes and have a moment to yourself. If you are watching children, at work, or driving, maybe pause this episode and come back to it when you have a moment to yourself. But if you are ready to try this little tool with me, let’s go into it.

how to create a positive inner voice

    Step-by-Step Guide

    1. Breathing Exercise:
      • Take a deep breath in through your nose, out through your mouth.
    2. Identify the Belief:
      • Identify the belief that’s been holding you back. It might be feeling not good enough, not worthy. Whatever it is for you, give this inner critic a name.
    3. Reflect on Its Origin:
      • It doesn’t matter if you remember, but if you do, think back to when you created this inner critic. What is its purpose today? This belief, as much as it’s a pain, is actually trying to protect you in its own twisted way.
    4. Assign a New Job:
      • Now, give this energy a totally new job. What job would you give it? If your inner critic is protecting you from embarrassment, you can give it the job of being your number one fan that fills you up with confidence and love.
    5. Rewire the Critic:
      • Say to yourself, silently if needed: “I thank you, honor you, and embrace you. You are no longer needed to hold me back from my goals. I can handle it from here. I would like you to support me, cheer me on, guide me, or whatever new job you’ve been given.”
    6. Make the Shift Physical:
      • Stand up if you can, and imagine drawing a line in front of you. This line represents the boundary between your old limiting belief and your new empowered mindset. When you’re ready, step over that line into your new reality where you are capable, worthy, and unstoppable. Feel the weight of those old beliefs left behind and the lightness of stepping into your truth.

    Celebrate Your Transformation

You’ve just made a powerful commitment to yourself. Think about what you’ve left behind. Reflect, sit with it, allow your body to embrace it, and really let it go.

    Final Thoughts

You’ve not only acknowledged that inner critic, but you’ve also taken tangible steps to transform it into an ally. How does that feel? How are you going to demonstrate your new commitment this week? Remember that this is a process and it’s okay to revisit and adjust as you grow. If you need to come back and do this rewiring tool again because a new inner critic is popping up or the old one hasn’t quite gotten its new job done, feel free to repeat this as many times as you need.
